Fridge and Cooktop

Mary and I ordered a new refrigerator and cooktop for our kitchen from Sears. Our refrigerator was more than 15 years old and we wanted something bigger and more energy efficient. We got a Kenmore 25.4 cu. ft. side-by-side refrigerator. It has a filtered ice and water dispenser in the freezer door. The vegetable drawer has a humidity controller and the meat drawer has a separate temperature control. The Sears delivery guys installed the fridge and hauled away the old one.

Our in-counter cooktop is gas and had a leak. We usually kept the gas to the cooktop shut off, and only turned it on when we were cooking. We got a Kenmore 36″ Gas Cooktop with 5 burners. Unfortunately, the Sears delivery guys will not install in-counter appliances, so I have to do it myself. This is a work in progress because I managed to cross-thread the connector to the shut-off valve. Now I need to replace the shut-off valve. I plan to do that tomorrow. Hopefully I won’t blow anything up.

I had an appointment with a sports medicine/orthopedic specialist this past Wednesday. He reviewed my MRI and decided I didn’t have any tendon or ligament damage. He did have me get a couple more X-Rays and decided I have early signs of arthritis in both knees. He told me I should limit my high impact activities, but continue to exercise using low impact aerobics (elliptical, bike, swimming, etc.) and weights. He said I should limit jogging to no more than once a week, and if I continue to play basketball, I should use Aleeve and apply ice after playing. He also wants me to try glucosamine.

Ron and I are still making progress on the new site, but haven’t managed to launch yet. We hope to launch before I leave for Africa on March 12.

Today Mary and I went hiking on Mission Peak with some friends. It was my first time in a long time. I was definitely feeling out of shape, but I didn’t do too bad. I hope to get in a few more hikes before we head to Africa to help condition me for the gorilla treks. In the afternoon we went to a birthday party for Keith at Catherine’s house. We ate lunch and played parlour games. It was pretty fun. This evening I updated my Geek Blog and wrote this entry…
