Africa Trip Blog Complete

I finished posting my Africa blog and pictures. The blog is on my new Travel Valhalla site and the pictures are in my Travel Gallery. There is a new section on my Travel Gallery for Africa. There are also some new pictures in the Europe and North America sections from various layovers. It was such a great trip, I’d love to do something like that again. Maybe our next big trip should be to South America.

Anyway, the blog is posted in two parts:

I hope you enjoy!

Ron and I are still making progress on dishAdish. We’re trying to improve the usability so that people want to use the site and enter reviews. Once we do that, we need to start getting people to our site. Please let me know if you have any comments or ideas!

My brother Mark is trying to figure out how to improve the website for his business, Presque Isle Hot Tubs. He’s trying to figure out how to increase his web traffic, which is similar to my issues for dishAdish, although his problem is constrained to the Erie, PA area. I guess traffic is always the biggest issue for a website.

Apparently some time in March a pair of peregrine falcons started a nest on the top floor of San Jose City Hall. Their names are Jose Fernando and Clara. The Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group has installed a nest box and camera there to follow their progress. You can see the camera and other information about the pair on their San Jose NestCam site.

I’m thinking that I may have to start working full time again, at least for a little while as a contractor. I’ve been in some talks with the remnants of my old company Cirrus Logic, which has since spun off to become Magnum Semiconductor. Their HR person is not very responsive, and as such I have been in “negotiations” with them for more than a week. I guess it’s really hard to call it negotiating when you never hear back from the other side. Aside from that, I am starting to look into various green technology companies. I think this is an industry I would like to be part of in the long run, but I’m not sure how I can get involved. Most likely it would be something in renewable energy or energy conservation. We’ll see how it goes.
