Finally Entering the Modern Age
We’ve finally moved in to the modern age. We got our first HDTV, a Sony KDL-52W4100 (pictured on left), late last week. To drive HD content, we also picked up a Sony PlayStation 3. I knew it serves as a great Blu-ray player but I didn’t realize how good even DVDs would look. This morning some guys from AT&T came by to install our new U-verse system. Now we have a 6 megabit Internet connection and 200+ channels of digital TV, including a lot of HD. Out TV stand arrived today as well (see picture). Now we don’t have to put the TV on our coffee table. Next up will be an A/V receiver.

Holy moly! That TV is sooo huge it flattened your entertainment center! But seriously, nice setup, now you can probably read the text in the TV-guide channel.

What do you mean the beginning of the modern age was the 1700’s. You have always been part of the modern age I would think. Nice TV though Jane says WOW it barley fit in the space.

Looks great. How do you find the PS3 compares to a dedicated blu-ray player?

I haven’t actually used a dedicated blu-ray player, so I can not really compare. The PS3 does a great job of up-scaling DVD video. The biggest issue with using the PS3 for DVD and Blu-ray is having to use the game controller for the remote. Of course I could go out and get a standard Bluetooth remote for the PS3.
