London Calling

Telephone boothI’ve been working in the US for a company based in London for nearly two years. I was recently offered a position at the main office in London. Since Mary and I have been considering selling our house and moving anyway, and since we are both interested in living overseas for a spell, we decided to go for it. So we’ll be moving to London sometime near the end of August or early September.

We have a lot of tasks ahead of us in preparation. These mostly involve sorting through all our belongings to decide what to get rid of, what to store and what to ship to London. Another set of tasks revolve around getting the house into shape so we can put it on the market. Then, of course, once we get to London, we’ll have to find a place to live and all sorts of fun stuff.

We plan to be in London for at least a year, maybe two. I guess we’ll figure that out once we get over there and see how we like the lifestyle. I know we’ll miss our family and friends, but hopefully we’ll have a lot of visitors. We’ll also miss California, especially the weather and nature activities.Hopefully we’ll make up for it by exploring Europe at every opportunity.

It will be tougher to follow the San Jose Peregrines, though we didn’t manage to do so this year anyway. Only two young made it through the fledging process this year. So far they are both doing well and are expected to leave town any time now. I have alreadyfound out that there are nesting peregrines in and around London, so perhaps we’ll find a new pair to follow for a while.

Anyway, I hope to get back into the habit of blogging to chronicle our adventures in Europe.  Keep a watchful eye on these pages for updates.

Cheers!
