Crater Lake National Park

We went to Crater Lake from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 1998. Crater Lake occupies a caldera that was created by the collapse of an ancient volcano, Mt. Mazama. The like sits a about 6000 feet above sea level with a depth of almost 2000 feet (the deepest in the U. S.). The depth and clarity of the lake make for some amazing shades of blue. This has to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the country! For more information, see the National Park Service's Crater Lake National Park web page.
